What is sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a technique that generally uses oral medications to suppress anxiety, reduce fear, and pain – creating a better dental experience for you. Sedation or enteral sedation is defined as using a pharmacological agent for the purpose of causing anxiolysis and a depressed state of consciousness (sounds pretty intimidating doesn’t it?)

To put it in easy to understand terms sedation dentistry is really taking one tiny pill one hour before treatment that puts you completely at ease and in a state of complete relaxation – and many times patients don’t even remember the appointment. That’s it! It’s hard to believe but our patients just know they had a great visit and now have a healthier, more beautiful smile.
